This tutorial shows you how to adjust the kite lines of your Kite Attitude universal control bar. Same idea for all the other bars on the market!

Take your time to do this. Don't do this just before going to the water.

Currently this video is in French. In the near future we will add English translations. Until then, here is what you need to know:

- hook the kite lines to a (very strong) fixed point, such as a tree (in our case we hooked the lines to a door handle for the purpose of this video, but this handle may not be strong enough)
- pull really hard on each kite line, to make sure it is stretched as much as possible and won't stretch anymore
- release the trim completely
- if the bar is not perpendicular to the depower throw, then change the knots below the floaters to make it perpendicular
If you are using a Totem or Totem Vario, pull the floater away and change the knots to make the bar perpendicular again
If you are using a freestyle wave bar with a low V, then loop at the other post in the Video section explaining how to adjust the back leader lines on a low V bar
- check the distance between the top of the quick releaser and the bottom of the bar. The usual gap is between one and 2 fingers. If there is no gap at all, maybe the steering lines are loose, so maybe your bar is not well balanced. If the gap is more than 2 fingers, then you will be more or less overpowered ; in mild wind conditions, this can be better to get the maximum pull from your kite. If the wind is less than 8 knots, your kite may get stalled and fall back. Then it is better to reduce the gap.
If you are using a foil kite, then it is good to have a gap of about 2 1/2 inches. When the trim is totally released and the kite is above your head, it will prevent the kite from flying above your head and fall in your back (you must pull the bar down to the top of the quick releaser to stop the kite above your head).

Experts at foil kites may use the race foil bar instead, and increase the gap to get more power when riding downwind.

Please note that the kite lines of a Kite Attitude universal bars are pre-stretched twice:

- first in the factory

- and then in our workshops, before sewing*

We have been doing this for the past 2 years (approximately) so normally you don't need to make changes. But at least you can check if your bar is set correctly. If you are using an older bar or if you are installing a Kite Attitude universal kit, this can be very useful.

* when you use a Kite Attitude universal bar, you will feel that the kite reacts instantly without any latency. The reason is that the lines are no longer elastic and won't stretch anymore... unlike what can happen with some famous brands... You will feel that you have a new kite!
